March/April 2011 - Far East & Mongolia

Greetings!

Pastor Ron Barnes recently taught the Book of Hebrews to enthusiastic students in three locations - two in the Far East, and a new location in Mongolia.

Ron reported that the students were very thankful for this course.

The Students Worshipping

Pastor Barnes reported:

"I felt the course was received very well by the students.  Many commented on how they were able to understand the dual nature of Christ and particularly His work as High Priest. Also, good discussion about losing salvation and the need for perseverance vs. eternal security.

They seemed very organized and committed and I think training should definitely continue in this location.  The large group of students, 60+ was encouraging."

Hebrews Mongolia

Ron wrote, "The students felt more confident that they could preach/teach Hebrews, knowing how it fits together. This was an excellent location with good leadership. Definitely the quality of the students was very good,  and we should teach there again. "

Mongolia - Bayanhonger

Our lecturers are brave souls who travel to remote areas to bring the solid theological training to pastors and leaders who would not be able to receive such teaching otherwise.  Ron wrote, "The travel was horrendous."  He spoke of hours on a bus travelling through the desert - at times there was no road at all. Yet his perseverance paid off - the students were so blessed by the teaching!

Some of the Students

Pastor Barnes said,

"We had excellent discussion about whether we could lose salvation.  Students felt more confident that they could preach/teach Hebrews, knowing how it fits together..  The students found it VERY practical, to help them deal with church family members that had fallen away, and to understand how to warn them using the book of Hebrews."

Hebrews Mongolia

The church in Mongolia is only about 20 yrs old and is need of more extensive training.  They would like us to consider going to other provinces, other than Bayanhonger.  It is an excellent opportunity IF we have the lecturers and resources to do it.

Prayer Points

  • There is always a need for good translators
  • Workers for the harvest
  • Health and safety for the Carey Lecturers
The recent illness of our dear Pastor Bob reminds us that the Carey Lecturers risk life and limb to travel to remote areas to preach and teach, all for the glory of God.  Pray for Carey - for the lecturers, the field coordinators, the students, and the office staff here at home.  Pray that the theological training received by the students will impact the lives of hundreds - or thousands - and that God will be glorified and Jesus Christ will be praised!

Thank you for your faithful prayers!

We value your partnership in this cutting-edge ministry.
